Some words to help you know who I am

An Outline of My Life:

In a few brief words, here is a mini bio of my
life as it is today:
I was born on April 2, 1982, so that makes me 17 years old. I was born
in Thousand Oaks, California, and I lived in Newbury Park until I was 6.
Since then, I have lived in Los Gatos, California. I done with my junior
year at Los Gatos High School. I am actively
involved in Student
Life at Calvary Church. Along with that I play water polo and swim.
As the adage says, "a picture is worth a thousand words," so here's a few
for you:
I swim a lot (too much) and I play water polo. I really like polo, and
I am looking for a possible scholarship next year. At times swimming and
polo drag on me, but I just have to keep pushing, and soon it will get
better.
Right now, my senior year is in full swing. College applications
are in. Financial aid is next in line. One semester left!!!
My college view is shaping up like thus: Harvard and Harvey Mudd are my
top two. Both coaches want me to play for them (yes!) and both are
great schools. Anyway, it's late and I'm tired.
I finished out my final high school water polo season. Yes it
was the best of the four, and the more I think the better it becomes.
Anyway, I am really enjoying being "the sports man." I really like
going to games and now I have an excuse. Not only that, but our teams
are doing awesome in all sports. If you want an explaination for
why I go crazy, then all I can say is, "hmmm, that's just who I am."
I love my teams and I want them to know that, besides I know what it is
like to have fans (especially dedicated ones).
At Student Life,
I run the tech equiptment, i.e. the sound board, power point, video editing,
and all that good stuff. My good buddy Dave P. taught me the ropes, but
still holds on to the web duties. We have done lots of strange things together,
such as waking people up at 4 in the morning to video tape them for a New
Year's Eve promo. The new crew is awesome. I love being able
to leave those guys to make their own videos and stuff.
Well, that about wraps up the current events in my
life, so now on to the good stuff.
I was thinking about putting a favorites list in here, but I couldn't think
of enough definite favorites to make it worthwhile. But my favorite non-active
game to play with friends is Family Business, and a favorite restaurant
is Soo's Mongolian Barbeque; on an aside, In-N-Out Burger is the best.
I also like the color green, and blue's not too bad either.
My dating life has been, well, nearly non-existant. Girlfriend? never
had one. Dates? if dances count--but I don't thing they do. Am I interested
in anyone right now? well, it's hard to say. There are people who I would
go out with if presented the opportunity, but either I don't see it, or
it isn't there. I'm more on the shy side when it comes to things like girls
and dating, if that explains anything. I know there are people who are
interested in me, but I dunno, it's just not that easy for me.
Well, onto another deep look into my life: My
beliefs about God, Jesus, and other spirtual matters.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ, God's Only Son, the Messiah. I believe
(here goes the left-hand illustration) God created man in His image, and
man was perfect until that first sin in the garden. From that point on,
man has been separated from God and heaven by his sin (see Romans 3:23).
However, God still loved us and wanted us to enjoy what He created, but
His justice demanded a punishment for our sins. His mercy and love brought
a solution in the form of a sacrifice. He sent his Son, Jesus Christ, the
infinite God-man (what? I explain real quick), as a sacrifice for OUR sins
and iniquities (Rom 6:23). Jesus is 100% God and 100% man. He is
the only perfect person to walk this earth, and thus His sacrifice alone
was worthy to pay for our sins.
But it doesn't end there. Jesus gave his life so that we might have
ours, and then, because He is more powerful than even death itself, He
rose from the grave (on the third day as He said, no less). Now He offers
us eternal ife with Him in heaven if we just have faith. This fatih must
be more than just intellectuat agreement or situational faith (falling
from a cliff, etc.), but it must be trusting in Jesus Christ alone
for salvation. I am not perfect and make many mistakes, but Jesus has
paid for my sins in full, and by accepting His free gift, I am given
forgiveness.
I don't really care about denominations as long as they hold Jesus Christ
as "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). Cults, on the
other hand, are a different matter (and, yes, Mormonism is a cult). With
that said, I would say I probably follow the Baptist traditions more than
any other, but it doesn't really matter. The Bible is the Word of God (2
Timothy 3:16-17), Jesus is God's only Son (John 3:16), He paid
the penalty for all sin, and He conquered death.
Those are my beliefs in a nutshell. I welcome any and all thoughts and
feedback.
